FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT STATISTICS: REPORT ON IMPROVING COMPILATION METHODS
Francoforte, 14 April 2004 - The European Central Bank (Ecb) has published a report on the compilation of foreign direct investment statistics in the European Union. This report was drafted by a joint Ecb/european Commission (Eurostat) task force that was mandated to investigate best practices. The report focuses on practical issues and puts forward proposals to simplify the compilation process, while nonetheless preserving the quality of statistics and their compliance with international standards. Its release to the public is intended to offer valuable guidance to compilers and users of these statistics.
