HP AND INTERSHOP LAUNCH GLOBAL ALLIANCE TO DELIVER E-COMMERCE SOLUTIONS

Palo Alto, Calif. , and San Francisco, June 9, 2000 - Hewlett-packard Company and Intershop Communications, Inc. Announced a global strategic alliance to deliver one-to-many e-commerce solutions based on Intershop´s enfinity software application and Hp hardware technologies and services. Hp and Intershop will promote and market the e-commerce solutions to customers, including medium- to large-sized businesses and dot coms. In addition, Hp will deploy Intershop enfinity as one of the software applications used for its own Business-to-business (B2b) e-commerce initiatives. The alliance enables Hp and Intershop customers quickly and easily to deploy a complete suite of sell-side e-commerce solutions based on Intershop´s enfinity, as well as leverage a readily available and scalable hardware platform. These solutions support the widest range of current and rapidly emerging e-commerce business models that enable businesses to sell anywhere on the Internet -- through company and affiliate Web sites, online marketplaces, wireless devices, portals and machine-to-machine e commerce -- all on a single platform. "In the digital economy, customers need a robust platform on which they can rapidly deploy e-commerce solutions to take advantage of immediate market opportunities," said Ann Livermore, president of Hp´s Enterprise and Commercial Business. "With this alliance, Intershop brings a leading sell-side e-commerce platform to Hp´s e-services solutions for both B2b and B2c [Business-to-consumer] arenas. " "Working with Hp will help us deliver e-commerce solutions more quickly to market," said Stephan Schambach, chief executive officer, Intershop. "This relationship will enable enterprise customers around the world to take advantage of our e-commerce offerings through Hp´s line of highly scalable, reliable platforms. " By porting Intershop´s enfinity product to Hp-ux(1), the application can be deployed in a secure, highly available and scalable Unix system computing environment. Intershop´s products are currently available on Hp´s Nt-based platform and will be offered on Hp-ux later this year. Intershop enfinity will accommodate the complete suite of Hp-ux hardware, including the recently introduced Hp 9000 A-class servers. "Intershop enfinity offers the enterprise exceptional selling features," said Nigel Ball, vice president and general manager of H2´s E-services Partner Division. "It closely integrates with existing business systems and has the flexibility to grow with our customers´ future e-commerce needs as a standard platform for B2b or B2c e-commerce endeavors. " "The Hp and Intershop relationship forms a powerful, worldwide go-to-market team," said Keith Costello, president of Intershop, "Customers will benefit from our comprehensive and tightly integrated e-commerce solutions, which can be up and running in some cases within 90 days, as businesses focus on getting to market sooner with marketplaces and other emerging e-commerce opportunities.
