NTERSHOP APPOINTS VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES TO LEAD GROWING ENTERPRISE MARKET

San Francisco, December 9, 1999 - Intershop Communications, the world´s leading provider of sell-side electronic commerce software, announced that Jim Demetros, 37, former Director of Applè s Enterprise Software Division, has joined Intershop as Vice President of Sales for the Americas. Mr. Demetros will guide Intershop´s sales force to reach out to enterprise and Global 2000 customers who are in the target market for Intershop enfinity, the company´s next generation sell-side e-commerce application. Under Mr. Demetros, Intershop will continue to leverage its position as a global leader with commerce and application service providers who are serving the hosting market. " Jim Demetros comes to Intershop from Apple Computer, where he directed the Enterprise Software Division that was previously known as Next Software. Mr. Demetros was responsible for sales of the Webobjects product, an object-oriented, high-end development environment for Web applications, commonly used as a platform for e-commerce sites. Prior to Next Softwarè s acquisition by Apple, Mr. Demetros held several sales managerial responsibilities, reporting to Steve Jobs and the executive team.
