  CAP GEMINI AND INTERSHOP SIGN GLOBAL STRATEGIC ALLIANCE

 
   
  Paris/ Hamburg/ Jena, 12 July 1999 - Intershop, the w orld´s leading provider of sell-side electronic commerce software, announced a joint marketing agreement with Cap Gemini, one of the world´s leading systems integration and management consultancies, today (July, 9) announced a joint marketing agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, the two companies will share sales opportunities worldwide on a non-exclusive basis: Joint projects of Cap Gemini and Intershop for major Internet Service Provider include the integration of virtual navigation features into an online directory service; automated employment referrals; ticket purchasing, publishing of official government communications, and creation of a regional gateway for Internet retailers. "We are looking forward to working with Intershop to help telecommunication companies and Internet service providers define their eCommerce strategies, design and launch their online services, " said Alexandre Haeffner, group vice president of Cap Gemini Telecom & Media. "We have found that telecos must offer more than bandwidth to their customers. They need to provide value-added services such as eCommerce site hosting and content aggregation, either by building infrastructures themselves, or by partnering with service providers. " Together, Intershop and Cap Gemini are delivering the expertise that enables partners and their clients to seamlessly integrate Intershop´s leading edge technology with their information systems. Intershop offers a full range of electronic commerce products scaling from simple electronic brochures to high-end applications for large enterprises and hosting solutions for Internet Service Providers. .
