NEW MEDIA AND INTERNET COOPERATION FOR EUROPEAN BUSINESS WEBLAND: EUROPEAN INTERACTIVE ACADEMY FOR NEW MEDIA AND INTERNET LAUNCHED

Amsterdam 6 dicembre 1999 - Webland, the European Interactive Academy for New Media and Internet, launches in December 1999. This modern training institute is a response to current corporate and government needs for new media and Internet skills in next-millennium economy. These skills are becoming an increasingly critical factor in the performance of a society, and especially so for government and business. Operating in an interactive and continuous development process, Webland will offer one-year and two-year training sessions, as well as workshops and seminars. Its focus will be on new media and Internet developments. Students will work under the guidance of personal coaches with real-world expertise. Webland opens its first academic year in September 2000 at two locations: one in Amsterdam and one in Barcelona. They will be followed in 2001 by two locations elsewhere in Europe. The Academy is a private initiative sponsored by a few large Dutch and European agencies whose own employees will join the student body. Taking part in Webland are Lost Boys, Two Tango Net and A Room with a View. Lost Boys is a leading-edge new European media company based in Amsterdam. Two Tango Net, with facilities in Amsterdam and San Francisco, is operated by Maria Boon. She is one of the driving forces behind Webland and has been closely involved for two years now in the creation of Internet operations for Achmea, an important Benelux-based financial services corporation. A Room with a View is a joint venture by Hans Vervoorn, Jan Peter van Doorn and Paul Schweitzer. Vervoorn served for a quarter century as director of the Srm training institute. Van Doorn was co-owner and president of Benjamens, Van Doorn-euro Rscg, a major advertising agency. Schweitzer is the former owner and president of Tbwa/campaign Company, another key agency.
