MINICOM LAUNCHES HIGHLY SECURE, ROBUST KVM EXTENDER VIA IP NEW PRODUCT EXTENDS EXISTING KVM SYSTEMS VIA IP

Jerusalem, January 24, 2003 - Minicom Advanced Systems (Minicom), leading innovator of Kvm switching technology, today announced the release of the Smart Ip Extender, a new addition to Minicom´s remote Kvm access product line. The Smart Ip Extender extends Kvm access via Ip, giving users the flexibility to access their servers via the Internet or a local area network (Lan), with the choice of Dsl, Isdn, or analog modem back-up in case of network failures. The Smart Ip Extender gives network administrators Bios-level access to maintain multiple servers in multiple locations from their own offices, dramatically improving their productivity while reducing the associated costs of down time, replacement equipment, travel expenses, and service calls. All types of remote access data transfer are protected with maximum-security encryption algorithms, to efficiently prevent hacking and security breaches. In addition, the Smart Ip Extender´s integrated system management gives users sophisticated remote access functionality with just a Web browser, avoiding the need to install proprietary software on either local or remote client. Unlike other remote Kvm access tools, which let users see an alarming blue screen, the Smart Ip Extender lets them act upon it. Featuring integrated power management, the Smart Ip Extender lets users hard reset or power on or off the remote host as necessary, whether the machine is running, crashed or even powered off. "We are proud to release the Smart Ip Extender," remarked Benny Hayumi, Product Manager. "By simply adding our Extender to their existing Kvm infrastructure, users can get comprehensive remote Ip access, with no need to replace existing Kvm switches or buy any new equipment." The Smart Ip Extender is compatible with all leading Kvm systems. Used in connection with the Minicom Phantom Kvm system, it provides remote server management of up to 63 non-cascaded servers, or hundreds of cascaded servers, over a Tcp/ip connection.
