Due grandi protagonisti della fotografia internazionale, entrambi membri di Vii Photo Agency: due uomini che rischiano la vita per documentare la storia della nostra epoca. I Marines l´avevano soprannominato "The fucking communist" ma lo hanno sempre supportato nel suo lavoro, anche quando il suo scoop sulla strage di Haditha, realizzato per Time, ha fatto il giro del mondo. Franco Pagetti è un fotoreporter di fama internazionale, un uomo che ha abbandonato il patinato mondo della fotografia di moda per raccontare le zone "calde del mondo". Uno dei pochi fotografi italiani presente in Iraq, prima e durante i bombardamenti. Secondo i servizi segreti americani era lui il vero bersaglio quando fu rapita Giuliana Sgrena. Franco è un uomo schietto, diretto, intelligente, di sé dice: "Ho pubblicato sulle più importanti riviste del mondo, ma non mi sento per nulla arrivato. Continuo a comprare libri, vado più volte alla stessa mostra, mai ai vernissage: mi interessano le fotografie, non i fotografi" Franco Pagetti terrà un workshop dal titolo "On Assignment With Franco Pagetti" Two main figures of international photography, both of them Vii Photo Agency members: two men who risk their lives to witness the history of our epoch. Franco Pagetti will teach in a workshop titled "On Assignment With Franco Pagetti". Tanti interessi, umorismo stravagante, impegno serio in cause sociali e ambientali, Antonin Kratochvil è uno dei fondatori di Vii Photo Agency. Da fotoreporter Antonin ha fatto la sua parte con incisività nella cronaca di ribellioni di massa e catastrofi umanitarie con la missione di documentare la realtà della nostra epoca. Il suo stile inconfondibile è il risultato delle sue esperienze personali, della sua psicologia più intima. Profugo dalla Cecoslovacchia nel 1967, un anno prima dell´invasione sovietica, varcò illegalmente i confini per rifugiarsi in campi di accoglienza in Europa occidentale. "per i primi due anni, la mia preoccupazione era sopravvivere, chiedendomi di giorno in giorno cosa avrei mangiato, come mi sarei protetto. Durante la Rivoluzione di Velluto nel 1989, ho varcato nuovamente il confine per fotografare me stesso sullo sfondo della demolizione della Cortina di Ferro, mentre distruggevano i recinti di filo spinato con la fiamma ossidrica. Un odore che sapeva di buono. Mi sentivo come Robert Duvall in Apocalypse now." Antonin Kratochvil terrà un workshop dal titolo "Faces In The City" Wide interests, off-beat humour, serious commitment to social and environmental causes, Antonin Kratochvil is one of the founders of the Vii Photo Agency. As photojournalists go, Antonin Kratochvil has sunk his teeth into his fair share of upheaval and human catastrophes whilst going about his documentation of the time in which he lives. Kratochvil´s unique style of photography is the product of personal experience, intimate conditioning and not privileged voyeurism. He left Czechoslovakia in 1967, the year before the Soviet invasion, he crossed the border illegally and spent time in refugee camps. "For the first couple of years, I was busy surviving, wondering what I was going to eat, how to protect myself.During the Velvet revolution in ´89 I went back to the border where I crossed and photographed myself while they were destroying the Iron Curtain, cutting the barbed wire with a blow torch. It smelled good. I felt like Robert Duvall in Apocalypse now.
