"STELLE D´ORO" PER 12 PROGETTI CHE SENSIBILIZZANO ALLA CITTADINANZA EUROPEA

Bruxelles, 9 settembre 2008 - La Commissione europea ha scelto 12 progetti incentrati sullo spirito civico attia promuovere iniziative e dibattiti su tematiche europee concrete e attuali. La consegna delle "Stelle d´oro ai cittadini europei più attivi" avverrà a Bruxelles durante una cerimonia di premiazione patrocinata. Il premio "Stelle d´oro" 2008, assegnato nell´ambito del programma "l´Europa dei cittadini", è un riconoscimento ufficiale per tutte le iniziative volte a incoraggiare la cooperazione, l´impiego di metodi di lavoro efficaci e il conseguimento di risultati tangibili in campo civico. I partecipanti ai progetti vincitori provengono da 22 Stati membri. Jan Figel, Commissario europeo per l’istruzione, la formazione, la cultura e il multilinguismo ha affermato: "L´europa ha bisogno della partecipazione dei suoi cittadini, ha bisogno di sentire la loro voce. Il programma "l ´Europa dei cittadini" incoraggia e sostiene le iniziative di successo nel campo della partecipazione attiva dei cittadini europei che abbiano consentito di ottenere risultati concreti. Non sorpende perciò che tra i vincitori delle "Stelle d´oro" figurino iniziative ben articolate e volte a stimolare la riflessione del cittadino su tematiche europee, che puntano tutte nella stessa direzione: dare maggiore risonanza a questioni d´interesse comune e sollecitare un impegno attivo dei cittadini in questo campo. Penso che questi progetti ben dimostrino la collaborazione attiva dei cittadini che giorno per giorno costruiscono l´Europa affrontando questioni di vita quotidiana". La selezione dei vincitori di quest´anno è stata affidata a sette giurati esterni presieduti dal parlamentare europeo e vicepresidente della Commissione per la cultura e l´istruzione Hannu Takkula. Tra i membri della giuria anche Brenda King del Comitato economico sociale e Keith Walters del Comitato delle regioni. "C´è stata data la possibilità di valutare progetti di qualità" ha dichiarato il presidente della giuria Hannu Takkula "e di individuare quelli che rispecchiano le finalità del programma "l´Europa dei cittadini" e sono d´esempio per sforzi analoghi in questo campo. Quest´anno tuttavia in concomitanza con l´Anno europeo del dialogo interculturale abbiamo selezionato tre progetti che, basandosi sulla memoria storica delle generazioni passate, mirano a trasmettere a quelle future i valori della tolleranza e della collaborazione". Le "Stelle d´oro" vengono assegnate ogni anno nell´ambito del programma "l´Europa dei cittadini", che si pone come obiettivo quello di costruire una società civile organizzata coinvolgendo sempre meglio la base. É il progetto di sensibilizzazione dei cittadini più importante a livello europeo, varato allo scopo di rafforzarne la partecipazione attiva nella costruzione dell´Europa. Per raggiungere tali obiettivi si sono stanziati circa 27 milioni di euro per l´anno 2008. La cerimonia per il conferimento delle "Stelle d´oro" si terrà a Bruxelles il 13 novembre 2008 e sarà aperta al pubblico, previa iscrizione.
